We hosted our black tie ball at the Waldorf Hotel, Covent Garden on Saturday 19th October and we are pleased to report it was a fantastic success!
350 friends and family came from all over the UK, armed with full wallets and purses, to support our three charities - Cancer Research UK, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and St Anna’s.
Rory Mackenzie, from the 2011 Row 2 Recovery Crew, kindly gave up his time to be our guest speaker for the evening. We were also incredibly lucky to have the services of Philip Allwood from Moore Allen & Innocent who auctioneered superbly.
The ball would not have happened at all if it wasn’t for the exceptional organisational skills of Jo Bailey who worked for months to bring this event together. She was assisted by Nicola Sugden, Butty McConville, Juje Dick, Lara DeKlee and Lucy Cooper who all helped bring in the auction prizes that made us so much money on the night.
In addition we would also like to thank all 17 of our volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the night to collect bids and ensure all guests were having a cracking time.
The lots up for grabs consisted week long holidays in Meribel, Antigua and France along with signed sporting memerobilia, fast car weekends, fishing weekends…… the list goes on and on. With the help of Philip we sold every single lot at massive prices! It’s too early to tell but it is looking like we have raised over £50,000 for our charities! It is nights like this that make the last two years of hard graft worth it and we cannot thank all our guests for coming in their droves to support us.
The departure date of 2nd December is fast approaching and we cannot believe how quickly this row has come around! In the words of Sir Alex Ferguson ‘It’s squeaky bum time’!
