Bonding with our Boat!

By Will North | July 5th, 2013 | Department: Atlantic Row 2013 | Categories: News, The Boat

We spent the entire weekend on our boat with 7 x ocean rower Simon Chalk! Chalky rocked up in London on Friday night with a car load of kit for our boat. It was like Christmas all over again!

We then headed to Burnham-on-Crouch to get to grips with our autopilot and chart-plotter and numerous other bits of kit. We learnt that a dagger board makes a huge difference to controlling the boat against the wind.

Having tucked into a big old cuzza on the Saturday night, we all headed back to the boat to get some shut eye. Chalky managed to squeeze into the bow cabin which was pretty surprising considering he’s piled on the pounds recently…

Sunday was spent practising para-anchor drills and even saw another crew in the very same race training. They have a brand spanking new Rannoch boat and it’s hellishly quick with its new type of boat design. We are going to have our work cut out trying to catch that thing! Better get back in the gym…
