Passing with flying colours!

When we left University back in 2007/2008, we thought our exam days were over!

Little did we know that signing up to the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2013 put paid to that immediately! As part of the race rules, each rower must pass an Ocean Yacht Masters course, Sea Survival, First Aid and VHF radio course.

So we headed down to Teignmouth in Devon for 10 days to Sea Sports South West. We were joined by Jean-Guy from Canada who is nearly 60 and will be rowing the Atlantic by himself! Hero! We also got to know Jimmy and Fredrik from Sweden who were great lads and completely mental. We were also joined by Team Bolton Atlantic who we met back in October. Great bunch.

I’m pleased to say that we managed to pass all the exams and are now qualified to cross the Atlantic! The Ocean Yacht Masters was a bit of a nightmare given the endless maths involved. However we both scored over 90%! Not too bad for a couple of Brookes boys!
