Will and I headed over to The London Boat Show last month to spread the word about our Atlantic Row campaign. In short, it was a belting success!!
We must have literally spoken to every single company with many offering us their products for free or at seriously discounted prices. It seems that the seafaring folk of the UK are a very friendly bunch indeed!!
A massive thank you to George Pollard at Navico, the leader in marine electronics, who have agreed to sponsor all the electronic equipment we will need for our board. Their support will reduce our costs significantly and mean we are that bit closer to making the start line. We can’t thank you enough.
A huge thanks also to Joel Meadows at Over Board who have generously donated a load of waterproof cases to keep our kit and electronic equipment dry when we take on the Atlantic. Great stuff!
Lastly we would like to thank International Paint for donating anti foul for our boat and Universal Stone for giving us some eco friendly cleaning product for our boat.
We also bumped into the Coxless Rowers who are rowing the Pacific later this year as well as legends Sarah Outen and Andy Brown. These names may not mean much to you, but in the world of ocean rowing they’re big time!!
To cap off a great few days, we met Mark Hunter who won a silver medal at the London Olympics in the lightweight double sculls with Zac Purchase. If you need some inspiration to row an ocean then you don’t need to look any further than these guys. Unbelievable commitment!
