It’s less than a week now which means all the hard training has been done (and if it hasn’t don’t try doing it this week!) It’s an easy week where rest and just a few easy runs are the best thing.

So only a few days to go now which means all the hard training has been done (and if it hasn’t, don’t try doing it this week!) It’s an easy week where rest and just a few easy runs are the best thing.
You are just ‘ticking over’ keeping the legs loose and nerves at bay. The aim is to arrive at the start line with fresh legs and raring to go! So resting, eating well, keeping well hydrated and getting plenty of sleep should be the main objectives for you this week.
Through your training you should have learnt how to focus. The mind is key as the body will believe what the mind tells it. So when the going gets tough it’s important you don’t panic and become despondent.
Anxiety and tension produce fatigue so try to relax, keep moving forward and ’embrace the pain’! There is a start and a finish, and in between it’s just you running and that’s when you find out what you’re made of!
That said I wish you all a very happy experience. Have a good run, rise to the challenge and above all enjoy being a part of Reigate’s very first half marathon.
