The Role

Jellyfish Training is looking for a Business Development Manager to generate new sales and help strengthen its position as a leading provider of Digital Marketing Training courses. The successful candidate will thrive on pressure, be able to juggle multiple tasks, meet targets and play an important role in what is becoming a key area of the business. Jellyfish Training deliver courses in over 50 different digital disciplines, from Paid Media, to web development and analytics. Based in Reigate, Surrey, this role will involve supporting the Global Sales Director in the growth of sales/revenue within the training department.

This position is wholly focused on revenue predominantly through the effectiveness of outbound sales strategies with an element of inbound sales. There will be a strong emphasis on establishing and improving our close rates for inbound enquiries, nurturing clients and building relationships to encourage repeat sales, pro-active growth of lead volumes from non-inbound activity and growth of sales for the private & corporate training in the EMEA, US, APAC and African markets. The BDM will be responsible for overseeing all proposals, that they are dealt with in a timely manner, and that all proposals are both suitable for clients’ requirements and commercially sound for the training division. This will involve both the production of high quality custom pitch and proposal documents and when required, pitching face to face.


  • Ensure sales targets are met for monthly / annual training review.
  • Ensure phones are manned to deal with sales calls at all times.
  • Takes responsibility for developing own knowledge of courses and related disciplines
  • Maintain your own sales figures so that it is clear how you are performing vs targets at all times.
  • Respond to all leads within 2hrs of being received.
  • Pick up all pre-sales enquiries.
  • Professionally manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation to prospecting, arranging meetings, preparing proposals and presentations, negotiating, closing and handing over to the operations team.
  • Build, manage and maintain a substantial pipeline and ensure that the pipeline activity is routinely logged into Salesforce including communications, actions and sales process milestones with potential clients and opportunities
  • Manage all inbound call’s, dealing with day to day training inquiries. Understand client requirements and quote accurately on a solution that best suits their needs.
  • Present training to potential clients through telephone calls, emails and both online and face to face meetings
  • Work with the Global Sales Director to identify and develop an expansion plan into new markets
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and opportunities through market industry and research
  • Manage and liaise with existing Jellyfish departments when immersed in added value projects.
  • Through networking and Linkedin make contact and develop relationships with potential clients to ensure a regular flow of training opportunities.
  • Monitor competitor activity and pricing.

Experience Required

  • Experience in a business development role with a focus on digital marketing
  • You will be from perhaps a Google or digital marketing agency background
  • A passion for all things digital
  • A proven track record in sales
  • Analytically minded
  • An understanding of the Google technology stack is desirable
  • Broad industry experience is essential
  • Pro-active to self-learn about the types of subjects that Jellyfish Training provides such as AdWords, Google Analytics, SEO, Social media, CRO and Google Tag Manager.
  • Self-motivated to achieve and exceed targets.
  • Great negotiator, and commercially astute.
  • Numerically skilled - both from a commercial and analytics perspective.
  • A natural communicator - being able to communicate across the business and with potential clients to sell the virtues of training.

Skill Requirements

  • Computer literate, preferably with experience in the G-suite
  • Can confidently deal with inquiries around all aspects of Jellyfish Training from both internal and external customers
  • Be an excellent communicator and be able to articulate ideas, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish influential relationships internally and externally
  • Ability/interest in working in a fast paced, dynamic environment on multiple priorities simultaneously.
