The Role

The role of the Senior Content Specialist will be to devise, execute and measure the impact of complex content strategies and content marketing efforts across our client portfolio, supported by a team of copywriters, digital marketing experts and client services representatives. We are looking for a team member, with agency experience and a proven track record, to work across campaigns with a particular focus on:

  • Audience and market research
  • Strategic content planning, including the creation of content roadmaps and calendars
  • On-page SEO optimisation, in response to briefs provided by our search specialists
  • Content marketing initiatives
  • Supporting Digital PR, outreach and earned media efforts
  • Copywriting and content creation

The Senior Content Specialist will be comfortable in the measurement of content performance and have a tangible approach to proving the value of a range of content–led activity, tying it back to overarching client objectives. They will be passionate about all things content-related, with a strong knowledge of digital marketing and search.


Core Client Responsibilities

  • Immersing yourself in client brands to identify the role that content will play in achieving goals
  • Ensuring that a high standard of research and landscape investigations are undertaken to inform activity
  • Collaborating with agency teams to develop and execute integrated digital marketing strategies that involve content as a core component. You will be expected to work closely with a broad spectrum of agency teams, in particular our SEO, Social, Digital PR & Outreach and Copywriting specialists
  • Onsite content planning to ensure that client website content embraces user interests/needs, with clear messaging to provide an optimal customer experience
  • Tactical execution of SEO-driven content needs, such as page-level optimisation
  • Ideation and content creation for content marketing, Digital PR & Outreach and link building activity
  • Copywriting, proofing and quality assurance
  • Tracking against allocated budget, with a view to keeping projects within client spend
  • Reporting against agreed KPIs via face-to-face, telephone and email communication
  • Attending key internal & client-facing meetings and positioning yourself as one of the team authorities, translating meeting outcomes into actionable next steps
  • Being part of successful pitch/RFP responses and regular new business activity

Core Departmental Responsibilities

  • Formal line management of content practitioners, and the production of Personal Development Plans
  • Informal mentorship around the subject of content, as/when required, across the department and agency
  • Identifying when team members are struggling in their understanding/delivery of tasks and either providing them with the support they require or finding an appropriate member of staff to do so
  • Thought-leadership and regular contribution to internal knowledge-shares, the company blog, training sessions, trade press and occasional external industry events
  • Process review and development, with regular contribution to the team’s product development roadmap
  • Assisting in the accurate scheduling of monthly activity and reviewing progress throughout the month
  • Accurate time-tracking and time logging
