The Role

The Senior SEO Manager plays an authoritative role within the SEO & Social department. The role is creative, technical and managerial, responsible for contributing heavily to strategic planning and execution on a campaign level plus also being involved in the line management and mentoring of team members across the department’s technical SEO offering.


There is an expectation that the Senior SEO Manager will take the lead, along with other senior team members, to provide thought-leadership, best practice approach, innovation and guidance at a campaign and departmental level.


The Senior SEO Manager will be key in the understanding client strategy and execution of campaign tasks, keeping a close eye on time tracking versus allocated budget and supporting in the quality assurance of project deliverables. The seniority associated with this role means that frequent client contact via email, telephone or face-to-face meetings may be required.


The Senior SEO Manager reports directly to the SEO & Social Directors.


  • Leading and supporting the department’s SEO practitioners on an on-going basis
  • Supporting the SEO team in the delivery of their objectives and ensuring that teams are continually developing their digital and marketing expertise, and sharing a clear communication vision
  • Proactively assessing practices, methods and process within the SEO & Social department’s SEO proposition and playing a hands-on role in delivering improvements where required. You will be expected to work alongside the department’s directors in doing so.
  • Assisting in the troubleshooting and resolution of problems across the SEO team and supporting SEO Managers and SEO Executives in challenges that they might be facing
  • Coordinating regular SEO team meetings in which any topical issues can be discussed
  • Identifying new tools and software that should be considered to improve related processes
  • Engagement with software and tool providers to ensure effective working relationships, access to betas and to grow effectiveness of department
  • Being a thought-leader and sharing knowledge regarding best practice, new trends, innovation and emerging opportunities
  • Staying abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including developments in SEO, social media, PPC, analytics, online marketing, E-commerce and online consumer behaviour
  • Supporting the department’s directors in identifying and developing new offerings that will help grow the business and expand the service offering
  • Speaking at industry events when suitable opportunities arise
  • Providing SEO training to internal teams and clients when required
  • Contributing to conversations within Jellyfish and providing regular insight on the company blog
  • Line management of SEO practitioners
  • Contributing significantly to pitch preparation and delivery
  • Working closely alongside SEO & Social Directors to facilitate project needs and activity

Experience Required

Skill Requirements

  • You have an in-depth understanding of the internet; you use the web for research and to further your learning by reading a wide range of online content
  • Articulate English skills – you must be able to use language persuasively and produce well constructed reports and deliverables
  • Thorough experience and knowledge of working within social media, with impeccable knowledge of monitoring and metrics
  • Excellent knowledge of industry software & tools, including Searchmetrics, Brandwatch, Radian 6, Gorkana, BuzzSumo, Facebook Analytics and Twitter Analytics, GWT & Google Analytics Packages
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Creative and capable of conceptualising and executing unique ideas under pressure
  • Confident in pitching and concisely communicating creative, strategic and professional ideas
  • A self-motivated individual who consistently monitors their respective landscape in order to keep up to speed with industry developments, new tactics and thought leadership
  • A natural intuition to understand what does or does not fit within a client’s brand ethics
